History of the family business JOSERA

JOSERA has been a thriving player in the animal nutrition and food industries for 80 years. As a medium-sized family business, JOSERA is constantly developing and setting a sustainable example in the areas of innovation, responsibility and stock reliability! The JOSERA company history begins with two visionaries: Joseph and Pauline Erbacher, who founded JOSERA in the Lower Franconian village of Weilbach during the Second World War with a feed lime production plant.

2019

JOSERA again receives the marketing price

On the 13th of November JOSERA was awarded the German Agricultural Marketing Prize of 2019 as a part of the AgriTechnica in Hannover. Among more than 75 submissions in four categories, our image campaign "Denkanstoss Agrar" convinced in the "Service" category.

JOSERA Agrar receives a marketing award

JOSERA Marketing employees receive Marketing Award 2017

JOSERA Agrar was the winner of the German Agricultural Marketing Award 2017. With this award, the Landwirtschaftsverlag (Agricultural Publishing House) and the Verbindungsstelle Landwirtschaft-Industrie (Agriculture-Industry Liaison) honour particularly creative and convincing advertising campaigns in the agricultural sector.

25 years of the Erbacher Foundation

Through our foundation, we support development projects worldwide in rural areas of Tanzania, Uganda and India. Projects promoting livestock farming, crop production, water supply, environmental and climate protection as well as empowering disadvantaged women are particularly important to us.

Presentation of the Klimaschutzpreis 2013 from Bund Naturschutz

The Bund Naturschutz nature protection association in Miltenberg awards the Erbacher Group the "Klimaschutzpreis 2013" climate protection award for special climate and environmental protection activities. Among other things, the panel is convinced by the high-bay racking warehouse made of the sustainable raw material wood, the continuously increasing number of raw material deliveries by rail and the exemplary energy management system.

2012

Laboratory accreditation according to the highest possible standard

The JOSERA laboratory puts both raw materials and finished goods under the microscope with the latest, highly accurate technology. Independent government-appointed auditors formally confirm the highest standards for the JOSERA lab with the ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation.

Biological waste gas purification by our JOSERA Biobed

JOSERA Biobeet

October 2012 a bio bed for biological waste gas purification was taken into use. JOSERA invested in the biological purification concept, by utilizing micro-organisms to sustainably clean the whole waste air from pet food production.

Establishing a fast and reliable dioxin analysis

JOSERA responds to the scandals in the feed industry by establishing a fast and reliable dioxin analysis in order to ensure the best possible safety for its customers.

The new high-bay racking warehouse in wood construction and new logistics centre are put into operation

With its enormous size of 77 metres in length, 32 metres in width and 30 metres in height, this building construction innovation offers space for a total of 9,200 pallets on 14 levels. The family company consciously chose the renewable raw material wood over a steel structure, setting another sustainability milestone.

2009

Development and commissioning of the JOSERA railway station

JOSERA expands its private railway siding. This allows the company to shift up to 45,000 tons annually from road to rail transportation, eliminating around 4,000 lorry transports a year — significant relief for roads, residents and the environment.

2008

Expansion into Poland (Nowy Tomyśl) and into Ukraine

JOSERA responds to increasing demand with the construction of the world's most modern mineral feed plant in Poland (Nowy Tomyśl). The Polish plant emphasises very good product quality, confirmed through its internal laboratory and continuous DLG monitoring. JOSERA also founds a sales company in Ukraine.

Alternation of generations in company management

JOSERA change of generations

Josef Erbacher hands the management of the company over to his son Burkard Erbacher. JOSERA is awarded the honorary certificate for 50 years of membership in the DLG, confirming the continuous innovativeness and quality leadership of JOSERA products.

2005

Certification as an EMAS company

2002

DLG-Plus and QS certification

JOSERA Certificates

The JOSERA quality guarantee stands for the highest product and process quality — JOSERA is one of the first companies in the agriculture sector to be certified according to DLG-Plus and QS (quality and safety). Further certification according to DIN ISO 9001 and HACCP follows.

2000

The open declaration of products

JOSERA implements transparency and assumes a leading role in the open declaration of products. While the feed ordinance permits the semi-open declaration, JOSERA lists all raw materials with percentages.

1999

Internationalisation with the founding of JOSERA Polska

JOSERA history

JOSERA founds the sales subsidiary JOSERA Polska in Poland. In the meantime, JOSERA agricultural and pet food products are distributed in many European countries.

1996

Presentation of the environmental award

JOSERA is the first company of renown in the Miltenberg district to receive the environmental award for consistent internal environmental protection activities. All savings realised through environmental activities initiated by employees are distributed as an employee bonus.

1994

JOSERA forgoes the use of antibiotic performance enhancers

JOSERA is the first and only renowned German manufacturer to voluntarily forgo the use of antibiotic performance enhancers for its entire feed product line. Antibiotics in feed are not prohibited entirely across the EU until 2006.

1989

Founding of the non-profit ERBACHER-FOUNDATION

Joseph Erbacher Senior establishes the non-profit ERBACHER-FOUNDATION in order to enable and secure sustainable development projects in developing countries.

Second pillar: dog & cat food, horse feed

JOSERA feed for dogs

JOSERA as an animal nutrition specialist enters the pet food market. Knowledge and decades of experience from the agriculture sector are incorporated in the new product line for healthy pet nutrition.

1980

New construction of the company complex in Kleinheubach

JOSERA continues to expand steadily. Josef Erbacher acquires a large site in the Kleinheubach industrial area for the growing company. In addition to the new agricultural production facility, a new laboratory, pilot plant station and new administrative building are constructed. More than 500 retailers in Germany distribute JOSERA quality products.

1972

Successfully use B vitamins in cattle feeding

JOSERA imposes the highest research and technology standards on itself — JOSERA is the first company to successfully use B vitamins in cattle feeding in order to stabilise the metabolism and promote fertility.

1969

Joseph Erbacher Junior takes over the management of JOSERA

Joseph Erbacher Junior

After the death of Joseph Erbacher Senior, his son Joseph Erbacher Junior takes over the management of JOSERA at the age of 29.

New plant in Kleinheubach

JOSERA company foundation

The JOSERA brand gains popularity among livestock owners, representing healthy and fertile animals. Rising demand for mineral feed makes it necessary to construct a new plant in the town centre of Kleinheubach.

Founding of the company JOSERA

JOSERA founders: Joseph und Pauline Erbacher

Joseph and Pauline Erbacher establish a plant in Weilbach, Unterfranken for the production of feed lime, the precursor of today's mineral feed. In the first few years, the feed lime is only available in 2 kg packages.
